NKBA Indiana Chapter’s website had become more of a hindrance than a help to the organization primarily due to an overly complex event management system. Their once-per-month event schedule didn’t require advanced functionality to manage while the additional complexity of the existing system just meant that no one in the organization really knew how to use it effectively.
Cardinal Acres Web Development made the following recommendations:
- install a new theme (with customizations by Cardinal Acres Web Development)
- install The Events Calendar to manage events
- install Event Tickets Plus to sell tickets via WooCommerce integration
- leverage other services (e.g., Mailchimp) to automate some of the tasks that were previously being performed manually
The combination of The Events Calendar/Event Tickets Plus greatly streamlined the events management process while integrating with WooCommerce to provide a standard checkout process that is able to utilize all the most popular payment gateways. This combination is also highly customizable due to the many extensions to WooCommerce that are available.
The new site leverages Mailchimp to provide automated “upcoming events” notifications to all chapter members. Via WooCommerce Follow-Ups, automated “event reminders” are also sent to ticket holders to help ensure an event is not inadvertently missed.
Finally, a new custom child theme of Bridge presents a more polished internet presence and helps showcase the design talents of the chapter’s members.
